Blazers can make you feel unstoppable and nothing can change that fact.
You don’t have to be working a corporate job to rock this powerful piece. It could just be a weekend party or an evening out with the girls. The moment you throw on a sleek blazer with a pair of pants is the moment you have the invisible crown for the best-dressed queen.
Blazers got a nod of approval from the fashion industry when the french fashion designer André Courrèges designed the very first women’s pantsuit in 1964. Since then, it has evolved and received many spins on style. But the thing that remains constant is that boost of confidence it gives its wearer. You feel bolder and bigger. You feel edgy and elegant. You feel like you could conquer the world. If you love blazers, you know what I mean. The one that I’m wearing today is a black plaid blazer from Anine Bing. I got this as a little treat to myself and now I’m obsessed.
It’s a beautiful plaid blazer with a double-breasted closure. It’s not slim-fit but the slightly oversized style still has a nice structure to make it look incredibly sophisticated. The thing about blazers is that you can style them in so many ways. This one would look amazing with a turtleneck sweater or a round neck t-shirt underneath. But I wore it with a black silk cami to add that feminine flavor to the look and it gave my outfit that good old classic appeal. If you are looking for the real deal, don’t go anywhere basic. Anine Bing has a great range of blazers with guaranteed quality. I, for one, am overjoyed with the tailoring and the silhouette. The material is soft yet heavy which makes this blazer functional to keep you warm as well. The oversized fit makes it great for layering. The pockets are actually functioning and can fit a phone and some other small items. This has definitely come in handy.
I paired the plaid blazer with Max Pants that I also got from Anine Bing. They have a sleek cut with the perfect amount of stretch. As soon as I put them on I knew I was in love! The clean slit at each hemline allows you to pair it with sandals, sneakers, and heels alike. I chose heels for myself since I was going with that classic timeless vibe. The split hem pants were just the right thing to wear with the blazer and elevated the whole look.
I completed this savvy look with the quilted Chanel flap bag. The thought of going for a contrasting bag did cross my mind but I love the powerful head-turning impact an all-black look has. And so the black Chanel it was.
Blazers are easily the most versatile, statement-making sartorial choice you can have. The styling possibilities are endless and you look stunning in all of them. Since many of us are now going back to work after the lockdown, I’ll be sharing more office-appropriate looks here.
